Celebrate Independence Day with spectacular fireworks displays, family-friendly festivities, and patriotic celebrations from Corolla to Hatteras. Browse local farmers markets filled with fresh produce, handmade goods, and coastal treats, and enjoy all the sights and flavors of summer on the OBX. Country music fans won't want to miss Josh Turner live in concert, bringing his signature deep voice and chart-topping hits to Roanoke Island Festival Park for an unforgettable summer evening. Add in waterfront sunsets, local events, and small-town charm, and it's easy to see why July is one of the best times to visit the Outer Banks. Soundside Market (Nags Head )Every Wednesday. The Soundside Market provides an amazing opportunity for our talented local artisans, creators and makers to get in front of their clientele to share their wares, their stories, and their spirit with Outer Banks visitors and locals alike. Vendors, Makers, Music and Family Fun! From 9-1, Free Entry!

Legends and Lore Ghost Tours (Corolla)July 1,8 and 15. In 1933, the Knight family came to visit their retreat home in October, no different than any other year. Yet three weeks later, they left abruptly without provocation or explanation, and never returned. So if Whalehead is haunted, who is haunting it? Plenty of people want to know. Haunted? You decide. Legends, Lore and Ghost Tours” are held every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. starting in June and running through August. Space is limited. Advance reservations are recommended. Tours last about an hour and are not recommended for young children.

Town Of Duck 4th Of July Celebration (Duck) July 3. Join locals and visitors for the Town of Duck 4th of July parade (happening on July 3). A Community Celebration will be held immediately following the parade at the Duck Town Park. The celebration will feature live music, cold refreshments, including watermelon provided by Green Acres Farm Market, and the awarding of the parade trophies.

Freedom 5K (Kill Devil Hills) July 3. Start your Independence Day celebrations with the Freedom 5K and Little Sparkler 1/4 Mile Fun Run, an All-American event perfect for the whole family. Participants will receive an event t-shirt and a unique finisher medal, plus enjoy watermelon, pastries, and light refreshments during the post-race celebration. Don’t miss this festive way to get active and kick off the holiday in true patriotic spirit.

Corolla Independence Day Celebration (Corolla) July 3. The annual festival in Corolla is returning to Historic Corolla Park on July 3rd. Join the celebration, which will include live music, various food vendors, and family-friendly activities. The celebration concludes with fireworks over the Currituck Sound. It’s a fun-filled afternoon and evening for all! Begins at 5:00, Fireworks approximately 9:00

Fireworks Across The OBX (Various Locations) July 4. Avalon Pier, Nags Head Fishing Pier and Manteo. The celebrations continue throughout Dare County with family-friendly events and some of North Carolina's most spectacular coastal fireworks displays. In Manteo, enjoy the town's annual Fourth of July festivities, including the apple pie contest, wacky hat contest, live music, and fireworks along the waterfront. For a truly memorable experience, catch both the Nags Head and Manteo fireworks displays from atop Jockey's Ridge. Fireworks approximately 9:00

First Flight Farmer's Market (Kill Devil Hills) Every Thursday. The Town of Kill Devil Hills is proud to present you with the opportunity to shop local and support small businesses at the First Flight Farmers Markets. Featuring around 50 vendors who offer a wide variety of goods from produce, sweet & savory treats, woodworking, photography, paintings, jewelry, candles, bath and body items, and so much more - you’re sure to find tons of one-of-a-kind items for yourself and others!

Josh Turner at Roanoke Island Festival Park (Roanoke Island) July 12. Country music fans won't want to miss Josh Turner as he brings his This Country Music Thing Tour to the OBX. Known for his rich baritone voice and chart-topping hits, Turner has become one of country music's most recognizable artists. Set against the scenic waterfront backdrop of Roanoke Island Festival Park, this highly anticipated concert promises an unforgettable evening of live music on the Outer Banks. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with the show beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available through Live From OBX

Wright Kite Festival (Kill Devil Hills) July 17 -18. Join Kitty Hawk Kites and the Wright Brothers National Memorial as we celebrate the legacy of aviation and the joy of kite flying at the 48th Annual Wright Kite Festival! Held on the historic grounds where Wilbur and Orville made their legendary first powered flight in 1903, this family-friendly festival invites you to experience the wonder of flight—this time, on the end of a kite string.

Carolina Boat Builders Tournament (Pirate’s Cove) June 22-26. Join in the fun of one of the summer’s most highly anticipated fishing tournaments while supporting a wonderful local cause by signing up for the Carolina Boat Builders Tournament. Held during the end of July – which is a prime time of year for exceptional fishing – this tournament which celebrates its 23rd year in 2026 combines multiple days of angling action with some exceptional events that highlight the best of the Outer Banks.
