All American Wing Fling August 1. (Roanoke Island) LIVE FROM OBX brings the Outer Banks its first-ever All-You-Can-Eat Chicken Wing Festival to the legendary Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo, North Carolina on Saturday, August 1, 2026. This all-day experience celebrates the flavor, culture, and energy of the Outer Banks with a competition built for locals, tourists, food lovers, and music fans alike. Guests will sample wings from some of the region’s favorite restaurants as attendees vote to help crown the ultimate Wing Fling Champion.
Cork and Craft August 5. (Corolla) Please join the Currituck County Department of Travel & Tourism for local wine, beer, cocktails & crafts featuring local arts and craft vendors, live music and local food in the breathtaking and peaceful setting of Historic Corolla Park. Beer, wine, food, crafts and cocktails will be available for purchase. Admission is free. This event is weather permitting.
20th Annual Watermelon Festival August 6. (Nags Head) Celebrate summer with Kitty Hawk Kites and Food Lion by supporting the Outer Banks Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Coalition at the 20th Annual OBX Watermelon Festival on Thursday, August 6th from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM at Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head. OBX Watermelon Festival is free for guests to attend; however, the purchase of tickets is required to play and eat! Compete in classic competitions to win from a selection of awesome prizes.

(Manteo) The First Flight Society is excited to invite you to join us at the Dare County Regional Airport (MQI) in Manteo, NC, for our annual National Aviation Day Fly-In event. This special day honors the spirit of aviation and commemorates the historic first powered flight by the Wright brothers right here in North Carolina. OBX Sunrise 5K August 20. (Nags Head) This is a family fun event on the beautiful beaches of the OBX featuring the new expansive shores of Nags Head. Sunrise appreciation, post-race features breakfast refreshments, and, of course, the most beautiful sunrise on the East Coast. Finisher medals and Summer Series Shirts to ALL participants.
